Peaces of Freedom
by Lucy Coutinho
On Saturday August 19, local author Lucy Coutinho reads from her memoir, Peaces Of Freedom, chronicling a self-healing journey through journaling, including testimonials and inspirational quotes. Using journaling to catalog her thoughts and provide a better understanding of herself, Coutinho presents her work like this:
“Writing has always come naturally for me. My creative and artistic spirit required me to spend much of my childhood living inside of my head. I came up for air only for the occasional visual stimulation. Even then, I would have described myself as the most introverted and extroverted person one would ever meet. That duality was confusing and unsettling to some, myself included. Fortunately, this tumult caused me to dive deeper into my journals.”
Split into 12 discrete reflections undertaken over a calendar year, Coutinho’s book draws a portrait of a woman struggling to retain calm through stressful modern life. Within each chapter of Peaces of Freedom, you are welcome to chronicle your own reflection where writing prompts are provided for you.
